Sorry We Missed You

Sorry We Missed You, 6.3/10, is a bleak and dreary ‘moment in the life of’ piece about a family on the absolute brink of despair and struggling to keep their heads above water. Director Ken Loach has given an insight into the raw struggle of Britain’s gig economy.

This is by no means an easy trip to the cinema. Loach has captured Britain’s loss of humanity terrifically. Both Ricky and Debbie struggle, constantly running around like worker ants with money woes beating down on them like a magnifying glass in the sun. It’s exhausting to watch. Some of the acting felt a little like it was chewing the scenery and that was mainly from the son’s performance. However it was saved by the two leads. I am still not entirely sure what I made of this movie and am not sure if I ever will. If you get the opportunity to watch this I would warn you to be prepared for a tough watch.
