The Addams Family

The Addams Family, 5.1/10, is one of the first releases in the run up to the Halloween and the huge ensemble cast had me excited for this spooky animation. That excitement, unfortunately, quickly turned to boredom. I am fully aware that with the majority animation films, this was not one directly targeted towards me and is suppose to appeal to a younger demographic. This being said, this wasn’t the case with The Addams Family as I witnessed even the younger audience members become restless. This mainly stems from the dumbing down of the darker and more shocking elements of the Addams Family that we have come to expect. Because of this softer touch for a younger audience, it made for a rather dull and unentertaining watch.

The plot had far too much going on whilst also not a lot going on at the same time. One redeeming factor which I did find amusing was a funny take on the teenage rebellion, Wednesday Addams. Apart from that, I was watching my watch throughout. This may well be a film to wait to watch until it appears in the TV guide.
