The Secret Life Of Pets 2

The Secret Life Of Pets 2, 6.5/10, returns with some of our old favourites and some new editions cast. It is back for a second instalment, giving the audience a further insight into what our loveable creatures get up to when our backs are turned. Illumination has added another colourful, family fun film to their collection and proves they can also tug on the audience’s heartstrings as well as making you giggle.

Secret Life Of Pets 2 is an introduction into multi-strand narratives for a younger audience, splitting off into three separate plots. At the centre, you have Max (played by Patton Oswalt) the Terrier coming to grips with some major life changes when his owner gets married and has a baby. Max, who was once apposed to the idea of a new addition, becomes a nervous ‘parenting’ wreck. This is happening whilst Snowball (played by Kevin Hart) and Daisy (played by Tiffany Haddish) are attempting to rescue a circus animal and Gidget (played by Jenny Slate) pretends to be a cat.

Admittedly, this film isn’t as good as the first but don’t let that put you off. The relationship between Max and the new child is an endearing one that will make you laugh and cry. The stereotypical pet behaviour has humour for all ages which is a hard task to accomplish. The negative reviews for this film seem to be from individuals who probably should have never attended in the first place. It’s 1 hour and 32 minutes of feel good fun, not looking for critical praise but to put a smile on the faces of their audience for a short while.
