Oceans 8, 8/10, has restored my faith in film after the recent disappointing releases. Firstly, to get it off my chest straight away, I have to say I LOVED this movie. After five years in prison, Debbie Ocean (played by Sandra Bullock) has been released and she has a detailed and meticulously planned heist up her sleeve and with an added sense of revenge. Stealing is all she knows but to pull of a job this big she will need help from a few talented associates. They are planning to steal a mere 150 million dollar necklace from the Met Gala. And yes, this is as intensely nail-biting as you would envisage.
Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rhianna and Helen Bonham Carter make up this amazing ensemble. I was excited during every scene from start to finish. There has been a lot of discussion around the recent ‘remakes’ with an all-women cast but I think this film demonstrates an evident reason as to why they are utterly deserving of their spotlight in this production. This is coherent to the previous three movies (which I am a huge fan of) and remains at the same exciting pace and entertainingly shot caliber. You even have the chance to catch up with some familiar faces.
I’m going to keep this short and sweet as I think what I have rated this film should be enough of a reason to make you go watch this incredible film.
